The reason why I still keep Twitterrific.
The Fall of twitter (and the rise of tumblr)? « Smart People I Know
Tumblr: Twitter for intelligent people.
Twitter: Tumblr for the simple-minded.
Don’t be offended! It’s just a humor.
Although, the linked article shows an opinion about the problems regarding the technology or architecture of Twitter. I tend to see the problems of Twitter are related to how the community is developed and interacted with each other.
There are so many immature interactions, rants, and negativity surrounding Twitter community — characteristic of the overall internet community. Somehow, I was also lured into that kind of atmosphere.
This is due to the 140 characters limit and the inability to edit your tweets, before deleting it. I know that Tweetie is using Twitlonger. But, that’s still a main feature of Twitter message posting, because — I assume — of the backward technology called SMS.
Google Buzz would be a neat alternative, if only they provide a REST API — not sure about this now — and separate it from the Gmail interface.
Plus, Tumblr doesn’t display followers count, and for some reason they removed “Tumblarity”. I like this, because it hides the “celebrity” characteristic of an account, which is a major feature of Twitter.
Except in cases where a tumblelog appeared on a radar, featured, or recommended by users.
You can disagree with me, you can be offended, but that’s why Tumblr is the Twitter for intelligent people.
Twitter API Rules
We’re in the age where what people says to the public on the internet should be authorized and verified. Similar to the rules that had emerged on non-internet media.
